There is a program playing right now on KVIE about global dimming. I saw this progam last week and it's really good. It gives the other side of pollution effects on the weather, that is the particulate effects. Wich in actuallity cools the planet, and has droped the actual amount of light reaching he surface of the planet by abou 20% over the past couple of decades. Even though they don't say it, but this could possibly be haveing some effect on the reefs too...they are getting 20% less light that they can turn into energy.
Global dimming is kind of the counter force to global warming. So while we have been pretty good about cutting particulate emissions from out polution steams, but not so good about cutting the greenhouse gasses we will start to see an increase in warming.
