Looking for some ideas as to what led's can be used on a nano like 12gal. and is it possible to sustain sps in a nano if you have a thriving setup please post some pics..all intel appreciated as i will be venturing into the world of nano tanks ..

Yes, LED's can support any livestock that you want to keep, plenty of examples here, in the SPS forum, and in the large tank forum.

IMO, a single Kessil A150w would be a great and cost effective candidate for a 12g. Or an AI SOL Nano.

I understand that the Led's can get the job done when you have huge units running my question is can you get enough of the leds to fit since the canopies are alot smaller and how many would be the min.to max you should have wattage wise ..thanks for the tip on the led will look up the Kessil ..anyone have a nano with sps ? if so toss a pic up would love to see the layout

There are alot of good examples on here in the nano section. Just cruise through some of the threads. I personally like LEDs on small nanos. Small, efficient, and not much heat transfer.

Yes sps dominant is possible in nano and picos. 5-10 years ago this was rare if not unthinkable.

LED's are tiny, you can easily fit enough over a 12g tank. I use an equivalency factor of 2 x LEDwatts = MH/T5watts to get a rough estimate of how many to use (this can vary greatly depending on choice of LED, driver, optics, etc).

You want to shoot for at least 6wpg for high-light SPS, so at least 72w of MH/T5 or 36w of LED.

an AI sol nano would work nicely on a 12g as well as the kessil mentioned above or the Par lamps available (rapidled or boostled)

I love my jbj unibody. Its on a 24 aquapod and s plenty. If you run it on a 12 you could keep it dimmer and prolong the life.
