I posted this in the upstate forum as well but...

I'm looking for a small(er) red serpent sea star. The LFS wants _way_ too much for one. LMK if anyone has any/knows somewhere with them.

If you can't find one locally try sealifeinc.net They have them $4.50 each plus shippng ($14.00 for 2-3 day shipping on some items). It probably isn't worth it for just the one star but if you also need some other things like snails, hermits and such. I was happy with everything I got from them.

If you think you are interested I may want to get some yellow-eyed zoas and we could split the shipping. Other may want to get in on the order.

Dave

daveverdo, i would definitely be interested if you want to split shipping. I only see them for 6.50 (common serpent star, hopefully i can request a red one as i do not want a brown/striped one) am i missing the one for 4.50? 6.50 is much cheaper than the *cough* 60$ one of the LFS wants for one. Let me know when you want to order. I am going to goto finnyas on saturday hopefully to see what they have, but regardless i'de be interested in splitting an order with you. Anyone else want in?

Oh crap..... I just found one of these in my rock with a leg sticking out. Me being the noobie thought it was a bad thing. Like a hitchhiker. So I left the single piece of rock in cold salt water for 4 days till the sucker died and came out of the rock. My bad.. Only mine was grey... Still learning...

Neoz, it most likely wasn't a serpent star. You probably have micro stars (probably not the right name) that do live in rock. My buddy seeded my sand and rock for me in his system and I have probably 4 or 5 of them, but they are tiny and i never see them except when they decide to stick their tiny legs out of the rocks.

Itchy - I too had about 4 or 5 of the mini-sea stars, and now i have hundreds. Literally... All day long in different spots you can see a bunch of the arms sticking out from the rock. Great things to have in your tank.

I'll also check out the site and let you guys know if there is anything I need. I definately need an algae eating fish, but It has to be small enough for a 54gal and large enough not to be eaten by a 3.5" Angler.

Ok that was quick and easy! No fish I'd really care for, but i'd like to grab some rics and zoas whenever you guys are ordering. I like the oddball rics on there. Hopefully the ones that come are as interesting as the one pictured.

Like i said, i'm hopefully going to go check out finnyas in vanettan on saturday (about 15min drive) to see what they have, i've been told its nice. Otherwise, i'de like to order within the next few days.

Yes Finnyas is awesome! Jim and George are 2 of the nicest guys ull ever meet, and they have some pretty amazing stuff in there. I promise you will be blown away by the prices after just visiting the stores in elmira. Finnyas is supposed to have the entire garage up and running by now, but i haven't been up there in a few months. I need to make a trip soon. Enjoy!:)

reefscape, i took a drive out there today and it looked 'closed'. They were remodeling the garage still it looked like, and not a soul in sight. All their tanks were stacked up in the garage/house. I sent them an email to see what was up, but i'm ready to order from sealifeinc whenever you want to. Hopefully soon. Let me know as well as anyone else who wants to order.

I think most of the time you need to call before you head out there, just to make sure someone will be there for you. I believe they are still both working thier other jobs, but Jim should be leaving fairly soon, and I think he will be at the shop pretty much full time. Thier porches always look like that, and the first time I went down there that was the only way I knew I had found it. Thier number is 800-257-2736. If no one answers I think it forwards to one of thier cell phones where you may be able to leave a message if they don't pick up. They are pretty good at getting back to you promptly, but i've always called a day in advance at least just to make sure they won't be out of town or anything. Also, you can PM either St. James of Reefdom (Jim), or Blugobi (George). I should be headed out there sometime next weekend to inquire about some fish for them to order. I'll keep you posted when i'm going to go down, and if I don't have to bring the kids, maybe we could meet up and share a ride down, or at least meet there and get aquainted.

St James sent me a pm saying to hold off on any visits. They are remodeling and will be back better then ever. Said he would PM me when they are all setup.

Thanks NEOZ. I just pm'd him today asking about next saturday and a possible fish order if he can find them. Anyone have a Golden Dwarf Angel they would like to sell?:)

Call Tim at ABC for the dwarf angel, they had one in their main display that was nipping LPS. It might be around still?

I would love to get on an order at Sealife.inc ! They have the sailfin blennys I want and also have harlequin stars!!

Oh damn...I don't want that one I guess. I have lots of LPS and i'm looking to add quite a few more. I had a False Lemonpeel and Rusty Angel in my tank and they never messed with any corals. I know it's hit and miss with these fish, but already knowing that a certain specemin is picking at corals makes it not worth having that one. Thanks for the tip though!
