LaCl Reactor

Just got the testing done :=0) It has gone about .01. Result was .0889. Darn but it is getting close to WC day...

...gone "up" about .01

Going to 15 every 7:45... Still working in the tank so it may be because of stirring things up :( Wish the Pukani would hurry up getting de-phos'd and cycled so I could just let things settle in. If I only could just stay out of the tank! LOL

I'm still here...lol! I did a WC Tuesday and forgot to turn the doser on...........grrr! So, the PO4 level is .09 Working at getting it lower.....

I guess worse things have happened! LOL Just too many things going on right now, to include sleep deprivation. Have been nursing our daughter's GWP. He had his ACL repaired Tuesday...yikes! What a surgery and LONG Recovery! Poor guy tries lifting his bum leg to, you know, and gets it all over him. It's even worse since there are two girls he has to follow around! He's such a stud! teehee

Tested Friday and the PO4 was at .06 :0) Hope to get another test in today and Monday. It seems like others see a leveling off in PO4. This is what I'm trying to see... a range since levels haven't stabilized yet......

Had my Margarita Worm! "Felt" good since I've been up 40 hours straight! Enjoy a Corona or two!! Finally going to bed! Yay!!!

Have a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend guys!

Today's test result .055 so is down .012 from yesterday. I hope it starts to stabilize now. I'm itching to adjust the dose but I won't. lol :0)

Correct.. Let it sit and level out.. You could be chasing the rabbit around the tree for years.

Haven't tested yet tonight but soon... My guess is it will be at .04 or high .03 How many days should I wait to see if it has stabilized? Or, if the level gets to .01, the doser is going off! All the fish look good :0)

My levels have never fluctuated like yours. I still think that most of your variance is coming from your water changes.

If I do end up being right about this (time will tell), you can likely let your levels hike a bit with lower dosage, and then right after your water changes, test your levels.

Sorry I haven't been around much. My move and mini remodel has been killing me. I am nowhere near done either.

On a brighter note...After just giving up on the thought that I will have a custom tank built, I have surrendered and purchased a Marineland 200DD. I have finished the plumbing and will be reinforcing my subfloor tomorrow. It's going to be a crazy weekend for me...

If you think of a spring/rubber band it has a rebound effect.

The problem with adjusting it continuously is it never has a chance to stabilize.

Set it at X and then test for 4 days.

Then do a .0x change and do it again for 4 days.

YES... if it is too far off you may have to adjust outside the 4 days.

If you have the reactors, give it a try. You can get the floss by going to wallmart pillow stuffing. There is a bunch of threads around here that mention which one to get.

Make sure to order a check valve from BRS or somewhere else. You will need it.

What check valve that BRS sells is so small? This valve goes after the dosing pump and before the tee, right? Is it an air line check valve?

LOL Insomniac:lmao: I'm a distant relative of Murphy:debi: I have gone 2 weeks without a water change since you mentioned it (WC's on Aug 19 & 27 were the last two)

No need to apologize:lol2: Moving isn't fun let alone a mini remodel! Between you and Worm here for me, I'll be fine:thumbsup: I LOVE the Marineland 200DD!!! CONGRATS!!! WOOT!!! I'm SO HAPPY for you!!!:bounce2:

Yesterday's test was .03 I plan to test again soon (next few hours). I fed the corals last night and I have fed the fish twice today so hopefully the I'm not too low?! I'll let you know:wavehand:

You are absolutely correct Worm! Haven't tested for today but yesterday it was .03. I did feed the corals last night and fed the fish twice today so hopefully it won't be at .01 when I test in a few hours. If it is, I will go to 15secs every 8:00. I will test as you suggest, daily for 4 days. Then, I'll see where I'm at.

I'm happy you are still here with me:lol2: Insomniac is really busy so you are my safety net Worm:love2:

Yea... so re-test next right before you feed them and see how much was absorbed.

Remember you are setting this tank up, also, so that you can be away from it for 2-3 days at a stretch too with out problems.

The reason I say that is imagine you are involved in an accident or sickness and can not touch it daily/hourly... It needs to be self sufficient, minus feeding, for at least 2 days.

So yes to set the speed/levels of pumps and other items correctly to not have to tinker with them is the best thing.

Keep up the good work. I am glad you have the patience to do it, some people would have already given up.

Just want to make sure that I understand you, Worm. You want me to test for PO4...then feed the corals....then test after they've eaten? How long after they've eaten should I wait to test?

Basically, the PO4 went up .003 between the time of the first test and the next test after I had fed the fish twice and the corals that night. Not bad, eh? :0)

Less than 4 weeks before the vacation to DC. The son will be taking care of my tanks...what a scary thought! In the process of writing him a book on what he needs to do for the tanks, dogs and cats! LOL

I will be testing PO4 later on tonight :0) Thanks for the encouragement :0) I try to be patient but it's really difficult as I'm a go-getter when I'm wanting something done... Like the saying goes, dynamite comes in small packages :0) lol

Try it a few times, yes, measure before and after. That will give you a baseline of how much it is actually going up (fluxuating).

DC... Where? I am here in DC.
