LaCl Reactor

I know you are :) We are staying at the Clarion Inn at College Park. (U of M.). We check in Monday, Sept 30 and out on Saturday, Oct 5th. Have to take the hubby there as firm believer everyone should go to our Capitol. Will be hitting him with the V.N Memorial, Korean (he was in Army, there) and N'tl Cemetary first thing. That way, the emotional part will be out of our systems by the time we get home ;0) He has no idea where we are going, flying, etc! LOL He trusts me...or he just figures he can't win...LOL

I hope the I can see the new baby Panda?!! Let me know if there is a place or 2 that you highly recommend. Any good eating/restaurant?

The bay panda will be in seclusion for a while. Sorry.

I do a yearly trip to Arlington National Cemetery and visit a friend who 'lives' there. You will be here during the week, that is the best time to avoid all the tourist, good pick.

I work during the day, but can do dinner one day during that time frame.

Ride the subway! Honestly the easiest to avoid traffic and parking police.

There are too many places to pick, and I do not know the cuisine of anyone from IA.... HAHAHAHAHA

I figured we wouldn't be able to see the baby :( Oh well, as long as it grows in to one heck of an adult, I can just watch it on the Panda cam :-)

I'm sure your friend is happy to see you every year :0) Such a special resting home for all our Fallen. All who have served should be honored daily as each truly have sacrificed. I am more hopeful now with our citizens as they seem to finally understand what our service men and women do and, have done. I carried such a heavy heart for those who served in VN and didn't receive the love and support upon their return home :( Hopefully that is a part of history that will never be repeated...

We plan to use the subway as much as possible :0) I had considered a rental but with the expense, etc-decided that the subway would be cheaper and less stressful :0)

The hubby and the daughter's boyfriend are both avid hunters, especially ducks. Anything regarding ducks, hunting and fishing will perk them right up! lol Maybe a great sporting goods store in the area? lol

We don't quite yet have our itinerary planned out but are wanting to have a good dinner at least one night. Send me a pm with your phone number and I'll put it in my phone. Maybe we could have a drink, if nothing else :0)

August 29th I set it at 15 every 7:15 (because of the .09 reading) and have not changed it since :0)

I just finished working in the tank. Whew, what a job! I added Pukani, about 25 lbs. I have a lot of rock in it now so next week I hope to get my SPS shipment... We have had 90-100 degree temps the last 2 weeks and it's forecasted to continue through Thursday :(

So, I am not going to test tonight but will tomorrow. I'm not sure if/how much the Pukani will leach PO4...I'll just have to see. I hope not too much since I treated it with LaCl. Going to take the rest of night off! LOl

Go ahead and rub salt in my wound Insomniac:headwalls:

What a Sa-Weet tank!! Looks like you are well on your way with that plumbing job:lol2: I think you will REALLY like it!! Throw us a few bones while you're doing your build!! New house, new mini-remodel, new tank...Money-bags!!::ape:

What check valve that BRS sells is so small? This valve goes after the dosing pump and before the tee, right? Is it an air line check valve?

Yes Brent, the check valve goes after the doser and before the tee:thumbsup: If I remember correctly, I got mine at Buckeye Field Supply...

I thought I would share my discover from today. I run LACL through a series of BRS reactors, today was my day to change the floss and carbon and when I switched back on the pump i had no output. I checked the system back to where the LACL solution enters the 3/8" water line coming from the feed pump and I found it clogged with precipitate. Probably 3-4" of the tubing was clogged. I cleaned and all is OK. I will check for this issue more often now. Been using LACL for about 6-8 weeks and fairly happy with results.

Tested today- .02! I'm getting a little nervous but will test again tomorrow. The Pukani must not be leaching that much which is good as I added about 15-20 lbs to the 40B :0)

I built a reactor with a 5um sediment filter after the reaction chamber. This seems to work well. However, I wonder if it is possible to clean the sediment filters instead of throwing them away. Does anyone know if a lengthy soak in diluted muriatic acid would clean all the precipitate and detritus from the filter?

One of the reasons I went with a BRS reactor and walmart floss is that it give great results and you can just pith the floss afterwards. The gunk that came out of my tubing was like tooth paste consistency. I think your sock would be tough to clean.

I also use a 5 micron sediment filter. I haven't tried to clean it nor will I. They are cheap :0) Also, as thick as they are, I wouldn't feel comfortable that I could clean all the PO4 out of it as well as the muratic acid. I would suggest tossing it when it clogs and replace with new, or use filter floss :0)

No :0( How is it staying in line when it goes from .06 down to .02 and then back to .06 in about 24 hours? Isn't that a big fluctuation?

Food solves a lot of things! LOL Yes, I know feeding is a culprit but things need to eat, right?! I don't think I messed up on the test... Hopefully I will test again in a few hours :0)
