Lalo LR

I plan on purchasing all of my live rock from your site, and was interested in some lalo rock to mix with kaelini and possibly some tonga branch. Its for a 75 gal.
Question 1) When do you anticipate getting some of the
Lalo LR

Question 2) How many pounds would you recommend of this
Tonga type of mixed LR. My plan is to have
a mixed reef of corals and fish, leaning
toward more corals.

I have been impressed with all of the positive feedback regarding you company and products. I have already purchased my sand 150 lbs), and salt form your site, and plan to be a loyal customer when it comes to livestock.

Shawn,

Thank you for the opportunity to assist you with the plans for your new aquarium.

The brilliantly colored, Drs. Foster & Smith Select Lalo Live Rock is available to be ordered at this time.

When adding Drs. Foster & Smith's Select Lalo Live Rock to your aquarium we recommend between ¾ to 1¼ pounds per gallon, and the recommended amount of Tonga Branch Rock for an aquarium is 1 to 1¾ pounds per gallon.

We apologize we no longer offer the Kaelini Live Rock and do not plan to offer this rock in the future.

If you have any additional questions we may be able to assist you with, please consider contacting us.

StrategicReef,
The Select Lalo Live Rock is prepackaged at our holding facility and then shipped directly to our customers. We apologize that we are unable to split the rock orders in half for a smaller shipment, though you may want to consider the fantastic Drs. Foster & Smith Select Nano Live Rock for smaller aquariums.

The average size of each rock in a box of the Drs. Foster & Smith Select Lalo Live Rock will vary between 5 to 12 inches. The shapes and sizes of the rock are easily modified using a hammer and chisel.

Thanks DFS. Appreciate the feedback. I was hoping to use the Kaelini as a base rock, but since you are no longer carrying it I will have to re think. Is Lalo used more as a top off LR?

sgallagher7,

Thank you for your wonderful post. If you are interested in a good quality foundation rock we might suggest item #80633 Fiji Foundation Rock. This can create a base so more colorful rock such as Lalo, can be added on the top, making this in ideal choice as base/foundation rock.

Thanks for the quick responce. Is the fiji more dense? Im looking to create a more diverse environment by mixing rock. Color and life, as you know, is the top priority. Im willing to pay the extra dollars for more diverse rock, and not just plain base rock, in hopes that it will someday look as good as the stuff on top.

sgallagher7,

The Fiji Live Rock and the Fiji Foundation Rock are equal in densities, as they are both considered to be dense rock. Though there is little coralline coverage on the Fiji Foundation Rock, it does have the potential to spread making this rock ideal for a base rock in the reef aquarium.

With ideal lighting, moderate water movement, and the addition of calcium, strontium, iodine, and trace elements this rock will flourish and develop into a beautiful seascape.
