Lamarcks thoughts, advice, experiences?

A LFS has a tiny lamarcks, 2 inches tops
-watched him for 20 minutes arrived last thurs. & got to see it eat today(heartily)

anyone ever have one this small? All opinions are welcome.

I tried them three times, all bought from the same LFS. From what I recall, they were all around 3", so not as tiny. Only one ever made it past a few months. All were eatting, then just stopped. They also never seamed to put weight on and all were QT'd. When I looked back, all the fish I bought in 2008 were from them and none lived. I've since stop buying fish from them.

What I learned to look for: Make sure they are swimming good, common issue is swim bladder damage during collection, which is fatal. If they appear to be floating up or pointing down, they may have swim bladder damage. Don't buy one that appear to have this issue.

If it's eatting good and swiming good, then it should be good to try. They are pretty fish. I've considered getting another, but my LFS never gets them in. Good luck.

Check for swiming issues and QT with prazipro... angels does require flukes treatment and can die later if not treated...

I got one around a year ago, similar size and it has done amzing. It's now double the size and showing beautiful extensions to the tail fin. Its a very greedy species from my experience and it really packed on the weight quickly and hand feeds. I may be wrong in saying this but not all are from deeper waters. I spoke to the wholesalers and they told me this was a shallower water one, hence the reduced price and possibly why it has done so well.

I've had my pair for about 4 years and they have done very well. Eat anything, do not bother other fish, and have developed beautiful silver and black colorings. My suggestion- QT and tx with copper and prazipro, feed high quality nori, and vary diet to keep healthy. These fish are always out and about but do seek the comfort of a cave when feeling the need to escape. Here is a pic of my male from about a year ago.

IMO...that is a Female...the top stripe on a male, does not go down to the bottom tail fin.
