I just bought the II, and have looked in some of the posts. It appears that the III will have LAN built-in.

My questions are (1) is that going to be Wired or Wireless (n std, I hope)?

(2) if its wired, I assume that I would still be able to get a wireless card and there will be a slot for it?

(2) if I buy a lan card now is that a waste of money?

As I will be using the serial port to control my AI fixture, will the UBS port give me full PC control?

LAN:
the PIII will have built-in LAN. This LAN-interface will provide a web-interface. We must go this way because the PLM-LAN is limited regarding its web interface capabilities and with a buil-in interface we have full access to the functionality.
In difference to that the PLM-LAN will not have a web interface, you need the software ProfiLuxControl to access the ProfiLux via PLM-LAN.

USB:
Same functionality like RS232 or PLM-LAN/WLAN.

It would appear from Matthias answer that my short term solution is the UBS card, if I am upgradeing to the III? Unless the built-in LAN connection is 10/100 and not built-in wireless?

It will not be built in wireless no this will always be an option

One other question. If I use the USB port, is wireless networking available using a wireless USB card?

No as it has to go through your router and the cards are specific to profiLux
