Large angel With anemones?

Most angels will leave anemones alone, I have kept LTA's with several species of angels and no problems. In general as far as the large angels go most Pomacanthus are somewhat safe (LPS and clams may be nipped), Holocanthus is usually very risky, Apolemichthys and Chaetodontoplus are safer than most, and Genicanthus are the safest of all. As far as the most reliable reef safe large species the regals, emperors, majestic, and blueface are your best bets but every fish is different.

I've had slighly different experiences. I've had holacanthus and pomacanthus species of angels find anemones (particularly BTA and carpet - unsure of the exact species) quite tasty, especially the columns.

not necessarily. let me be honest, and say any angel may eat an anemone. do you want the angel more than the anemone? if so go for it. if not, dont try any angel. except maybe geniacanthus.

If you have clowns hosting in the anemone, the angel might be less likely to sample it, as the clowns would surely chase it off.

so a blue face should be ok with an anemones right?

Maybe. To tell the truth all bets are off when it comes to angels. Most blueface will be fine with an anemone but there are no guarantees. Angels dont eat anemones or corals in the wild but in a confined space they tend to sample and if something tastes good to them they may eat it.

yeah if you have clown hosting you never have to worry about it. my sebea, allows no one to get near his anemone.

Not to be a party pooper, but I again disagree. My emperor ruled the tank, and chased the maroon clowns without mercy, and ate the anemone.

This is ironic, because I have seen the other way around--large carpets and other anemones seem to find these angels to be quite tasty, lol.

 very true. Perhaps that is why it only bit at the column when visible, not the tentacles. While the BTA was lunch from any angle.

Very likely why. Biting the tentacles of a carpet anemone directly is getting a mouthful of 'ouch'. Reminds me of when I got stung in the mouth by a jellyfish when I was a kid

Well I guess you're not reef-safe either :D

Are angels ok with anemones? Also what are the most reefsafe angels?

i think generally speaking most would be fine with anemones..
didn't have a problem with my asfur or majestic while i had them.
will be adding a mac soon.

most reef safe..that's going to be hugely hit or miss with most of the larger species if that is what you are inquiring about.

my majestic seemed to be ok , but didnt have it long in the reef.
the asfur would constantly pick at the clam and zoas..occasional sps sampling as well.

again,,i'll be adding a mac and we'll see what happens. but this fish is a solid eater unlike the asfur so it may be less apt to sample everything.
