Large Centerpiece Fish

A little over three years in my tank, if you can get one in the 3" range you should be good to go. Like all other fish the larger you get one, the harder it will be to get them to eat.

The first post was my larger one of my two, this one I have had for two years and I got him as a juvy from NY Aquatics and he ate the next day. Not sure what you want to spend but NYA has a 2 to 3" juvy as I post this

Did you get the larger one from NYA as well?

Great tank alton! I am definitely leaning more towards the majestic. Unfortunately for me I live in Canada so no NYA or LA for me! There seems to be a lot more majestics than regal here and when I do see a regal, it is not eating and/or it is 300$:hmm3: Is it advised to quarantine these fish more than any other fish? I would really hate to see it die with that price tag and its beauty! Does your regal ever nip alton? My flame angel nips but doesn't ever do any damage.

I don't have any scolys, but I do have a long tentacle plate. I really like the look of the majestic angel, and I heard they were pretty docile? Anyone have any experience with aggression to this fish or from this fish?

Majestics are usually mild mannered. They are even pretty shy when new. However, they are large angels, and can still be aggressive when they want to.

The regal has been the most reef safe Angel I have owned, but I do not try open brain corals. I have a Majestic in another tank but it stays in the rocks and only comes out when feeding. And yes all my fish go into QT before my display, I use a 100 gallon Rubbermaid tub

I have an open brain coal that is actually pretty large :headwally: My LFS carrys moorish idols ALL the time, they usually always have one or two in stock. I can't believe people buy them, one search on google could change your mind completely. My LFS almost never carrys any large angels either. What about a lionfish? They are not very active, but they sure are eye catchers. I really wish I had two tanks, one a FOWLR and one a reef!

I was going to suggest a dwarf lionfish, but didn't because they aren't active swimmers. They are nice additions to your tank, but your smaller fish might get eaten.

I've had my Moorish Idol for almost 6 years.

I don't think my sump is big enough for him. And I don't think I could get him out of the tank without tearing my reef apart :( On LA it says that the watanabe angel is difficult to keep? I am not wild about the colouring on them but to have a pair would be very cool!

A pair is unlikely. A female would be possible if you find the right one.

When it comes to MI, I've seen and read more and more success stories on the past couple of years. Mine has been with me for about 4 years now. I believe food development and catching technique have both gotten better so they aren't as hard to acclimate to captivity as they were before.

Maybe a MI is an option then.... I would be really nervous:hmm1: Would a fuzzy dwarf lion eat a firefish, clownfish? My clown gobie might have a hard time! I should definitely read the MI thread here... What do you feed yours sc50964 or pinnatus?

I mostly feed NLS pellets, though Nori supplements are good and occasionally I need to feed other things to get him eating after a hunger strike. I have a lot documented in the MI thread.

Cool, thanks for the advice, if I was ever gonna do one of those I would put it in a larger tank. I wasn't actually gonna do it:hammer: Just a question are moorish idols tangs or angels? Do lionfish still eat fish if they are well fed?

Would a naso tang fit in my tank? I have seen many different minimum tank sizes? I really like the look of tangs and they always seem to have personality!
