large regal tang experience

I bought my 1" regal tang 2.5 years ago and it's now reaching 5" in length. It's housed in a 6 feet 180 gallon tank with an achillies tang (approx 4"). These are the only two large fish in the tank, and it's a sps dominated reef.

I'm hoping to get some feedback from some of you who keeps a large regal tang to find out if I should have him removed before too late. I'm guessing this time next year he'll be reaching 7" long. He eats everything and anything and is the fastest grower in my tank.

Between the regal tang and the achillies tang, I'm going to say the achillies is going to stay. Could some of you please share your experience with your regal tang so I could anticipate what could be happening next? If I'm going to have him removed, I'll have to do it before it outgrows my fish trap! Thank you.

i would think your regal tang is among the lucky ones to live in a 6' 180g tank. being such a popular fish, i know lots of them lives in a 5' tank for many years.

Hopefully BrianD will chime in here.

I remember him having a large one, in a very large tank. It eventually got very large and "angry" and killed at least a rabbitfish from what I remember.

He had a thread about it on here somewhere, but it was posted a while ago.

He's in Hawaii, checking in occasionally.
