Large sump/tank ratio?

I've got a 44 gallon corner tank set up just the way I want it. I also have a 55 gallon tank sitting in the basement going used. I would like to make a sump out of it so I can add a decent sized skimmer and all the other stuff that would go into the sump.
I guess the real question I have is:
Is there any problem with having such a big sump relative to the size of the aquarium?
It seems like only good things would be happening.

No problem with the idea. I'm sure you might get kudos for it because it dillutes the water parameters of the display tank making it altogethor a safer more stable enviroment.
