hello,

i recently was a little traumatized when i bought a 145g eurobraced tank, and the front seams started splitting in the middle while the tank was still cycling... i want to buy a new 6' tank 220 - 240g, but not sure which route to go. i was hoping for some info...

do marineland 220g tanks have a lifetime warranty that covers home damage if the tank busts and you have it on a factory stand? i have heard it, but have been unable to find it in writing... i want to see it in writing, and find the exclusions...

if so, would it void the warranty to place the 220g tank and factory stand on a 4" solid wood raised platform that is level? their stands are sooooo stinking short! lol

i'm trying to keep to 3k for a tank, stand, and canopy... the local "custom" ones are in my price range. after seeing first hand a seam give and then hearing of several others, i want to try a different route...

any other thoughts? different brands you would recommend? what route did you all go? any regrets or info that might be valuable?

thanks!

IIRC yes the Marineland warranty is only valid if you use their stand, but I have NEVER heard of a warranty covering damages to your personal property shoukd the tank fail

I have read that the Marineland company has insurance to make damages claims should an aquarium fail and create damage.Any retailer should be able to confirm that when purchasing.I have a 220XH on a steel stand from Marineland.I think it is a good height to have for a DT.I have to climb on a stand to clean it periodically.
That said, they replaced a 180 gal. that had a flawed glass, under warranty,no house damage but they paid to have a new one delivered and even offered to cover the price of new salt.

a marinland steel stand for a 220g? do you have a link for it? that sounds interesting!

yes, i have been told by people that own the tanks that they come with the warranty for the tank and damage. i even see it on their website in the question and answer section... i want to see it in writing though! i want to make sure i can have it on a pedestal and not void the warranty. i don't want to have to bend over to look at my own tank when i'm dropping that kind of coin on it.

The stand was ordered through Marineland with a 180 gallon Cornerflow. The stand was built to Marineland specifications under license, somewhere locally or perhaps Perfecto manufactured it.It wasn't an in stock item. It was only $200.00.When the 180 gallon was returned to Marineland under warranty(for a defect),I up sized to the 220 gallon DT I have now.It has the same outer dimensions but it is 6" taller. My aquarium sits with the top rim 5' high off of the floor. You don't need to look down at it(I am 5'10...).BTW,mine is for sale.

warranty only valid if tank sitting on any manufactured stand. like aqueon instead of marineland.

but yes, i dont think any smart business will give warranty cover personal property damage. maybe aqueon will since they changed a well known all-glass to unknown name like aqueon. lol
