I was wondering if any of you guys have a large tank with leds and if they are worth the money i have 330 60L36w36h and was wondering if theres was anything out there that can penetrate that deep of a tank with out salling my car or house lol.......if you have pics please post them i would love to see them and please share your thought experiences and enlighten me thanks

im not sure as of now, but in a few yrs there def will be... For now i am going to switch over to radium 20k on ice caps... 400 w each...

would def like a nice clean led fixture sometime in the future

your better off running the radiums with a pfo then an electric you will actually get a better par/beneficent with them then run on an E ballast

Just set up a 250 DD with 4 AI Sol Blue LED's. Love them. Corals are responding nicely. Previously had t-5's on my 90.

IMO, I just bought 2 Cree 60w units and I have tried other LED units, I think the technology is there and they are very efficient but you don't get much spread from them so I found if you want to run LED you literally have to have the hole surface of the tank covered. I had a lot of spread though.. 10 foot by 2.5 wide but I only wanted to see how they compare to any other light etc. I've seen LED with t5 suplement and I thought it looked pretty good, I think the t5 just smooth it over, and that was over sps.. I'm not saying there good or bad.. Ofcourse everything has draw backs and it depends on the circumstance etc etc.I like mh and t5 better but it has a lot of potential and every unit is different, alot of people are getting good results. Just my 2 cents cheers Elias

I will be building LED's for my 180g which I'm trying to wrap up. I'm looking at 96 led's to start with, and if needed I'll add another panel of 24. I'm 100% LED's right now, 46 bow and frag tank, and won't ever go back.

I'm having a hard time with the owners of these LEDS because they post on their web site that they will charge you $500 is you mention their name or use any of their logos..

Anyhow this tank stands at 30" deep and as you can see everybody is loving it....

Things look like this a the bottom

21 cree xpg = 250w metal halide. I'm about to set up a 90 gallon with 21 cree xpg on one side and an old 150 watt on the other. I'm going to go all LEDs some time this summer once my wallet recovers. I plan to have in total about 48 cree xpg. Youtube vid:

I ran 144 x 3W LEDs on my 300g. I found that the PAR was acceptable under the arrays. However the spread is no where near what a MH does so I emphatically disagree with the 21 LED's = 1 MH analogy. I found that after taking PAR measurements, 48 LEDs is much closer to a MH with GOOD reflectors. However, even then PAR dropped from 300 on the sand to <50 within a few inches. Bleed from MH's keeps these areas ~150.

Ultimately, I would have needed an additional 48-96 LEDs so I scrapped the project altogether and went with MH's with LEDs for supplementation. I'm very pleased with the results.

Original LED only (notice the distinct shadows, even with 80 degree optics):

Voila no big hot reflectors

Voila no big hot reflectors

They didn't say you can't link to their website.....

Anybody can PM if interested I don't know how these people come with this sometimes I believe that a forum is the best way to get your product to pass the test (or not) in this case the images speak for themselves

On the other hand what is wrong with free advertisement good or bad as long as people are talking keep 'em coming haha
