large Water Changes

I have a 180 gallon tank, havent done a water change in a few months... is it bad or can it crash the tank if I did a 60 gallon water change??? Just wondering...

I wouldnt do that large of a water change. Just do smaller ones (like regular size) more often for a while (like if you do a 20g change every 2 weeks, do a 20g change once every week). I'd do that for a couple/few water changes and then go back to normall. But imo, you really need to do all your tests. amonia, nitrite, nitrates, pH, sg all that. And if you got corals, you REALLY need to find out what all the other stuff like calcium and mag and all those are.

should not hurt anything, unless you have alot of sponges on the upper part of your LR. sometimes soft corals dont like being exposed to air much either. but i have done 50% changes when i moved the tank with no problems. Anthony Calfo was talking about large frequent water changes at the MACNA event. so people say, i wasnt there.

Ive already changed 50 gals in my 150 without any ill effects.
Depending on how bad your water is though you don't wanna change it from bad to good too fast.

I think 60 gals would be ok thats only 1/3rd.
