large water contaitners

Where are you all getting your large water conainers?

I may be looking into getting a 50 - 100 gallon continer to store water in for water changes. I find myself with lots of reasons to head south at least once a month, I can easily head to scripts and pick up 50 gallons of free sea water, and bring it home to store.

I just need to find a large container(that will fit in my garage) to store it in, and a few containers toss in the van to haul the stuff in.

Where are affordable large containers?

IF i do go this route, what do I need to do to keep the water in a container for a month? Is a simple power head enough to keep the water ok?

oh yes, you are my motivation. I have a spot in the garage, If I move things around, I can set it up at.

So you got your barrels from a local carwash that was done with them eh?

Now I have to go talk to every car wash in town.

Don't use Rubbermaid trash cans for long-term water storage. They are not engineered to hold liquids and WILL burst eventually. Might be worth the risk if you have it in the garage in a spot where a spill would not be too detrimental, but anywhere else...don't risk it.

They must have just started to carry them. Or perhaps they don't have them here in Orange County.

am I reading this correct, WalMArt is carrying Large, 50 gallon, water containers, not trash cans?

I think people are getting confused by the pictures and not understanding what these water barrels really are.
They are constructed of 1/4" thick nylon that is completely rigid and does not flex what-so-ever... not the standard polypropolene trash barrels that WalMart and HD sells. Huge difference.

CCG posted a link to US plastics that sell the correct barrels but shipping such a bulky item would make it cost prohibitive in most parts of the country.

a 55 gallon goes for $70 and costs $30 more to ship to So Cal.

Well I think the walmart ones arent. I think the ones at walmart are trashcans.

But the one I bought is a 55g drum. Thats what their called?

there is a store in fullerton that sells those rectangular plastic bins that LFS has.
i bought one for 190. holds about 240gallon.
