A lot of you have asked about making the Stream flow more diffuse and so I ordered several of the 6200.13 intake screen. It has a .5" larger diameter to the outlet so the flow is more diffuse. Be forwarned that this means it is more possible for animals to get inside when the pump is off but if you want to more diffuse the flow this will do it.

Roger,

Can you put me on the list for 2 of them. I want them as soon as possible.

Thanks,
Pedro

If you guys want to give me a call next week at 512-833-7546 I'll get them out to you.

Roger,

I'll definately give you a call. Which day next week is best?..

Thanks a million. I've been looking forward to these.

They are about $50 but i need to look it up. All the days next week are equally bad. I am working on getting a new office and have all sorts of meetings to go to to get this done. If I am not here please leave a message and I will call back. Just name and number is all you need to leave. Some folks get wordy and the recording quality isn't so good and it makes no sense to leave more than this.

Wow, they are expensive. They cost more than the magnetic holder. Why are they so costly? I hope that's not the right price.

I'll give you a call, LOL, i'll just leave my name and number.

Thanks.

Just to clarify - this is a different screen than what comes standard on the 6200? If so, how much wider will it make the funnel? I believe the 6200 is 30" wide, what would this be?

Fliger,

I think these are the standard screens from the 6200. All it is that the outlet is a bit wider. So in essence it's simply a replacement part. But if i'm wrong, i'm sure Roger will clarify it.

Nope, that is what the cost. The 6080.13 cost $42.37. It is one of the most expensive parts of the Stream because it has the most expensive mold. They are expensive.

Anthony,

You can use these outlets on the 6000/6100's. All we are doing is dispersing the flow a bit more by having a bigger outlet. I already ordered two, i will post back how it goes. I will be using them on a 6100 and a 6000.

i actually got to see the new 6200 today along side a 6000 and you can totally tell the difference between the two. if you have neon gobies or small fish that like to perch in odd spots in the tank watch out because the openings are noticeably larger

Well, this may be out of line for this forum, but if that piece of plastic alone has a cost of $42, then it is pretty clear why the Tunze equipment is so expensive overall. I'm not in the plastics industry and don't know the specific difficulties of production of a piece like that, but if a plastics manufacturer couldn't be contracted to make that part for a fraction of that price, I would be very very surprised. I suppose that Tunze might get concerned about loss of quality control (I don't know if they subcontract any components yet or not), but for a relatively non-critical component like that, and with the proper supplier inspection/certification, I would be happy to take maybe $30 off the price of a pump unit for the risk. Just my opinion - I've already paid the money for the units, so they were obviously worth the price to me. I won't be ordering the new screens though.
Mike

We use one of the most expensive plastics available. It has the best characteristics of durability. Plastics as a raw material range widely in cost. We don't farm anything out. We own all the molds and all the machines. I have always faught any move to do so because innevitably someones brother in law gets a copy of the mold and the lack of quality control is also a concern. I don't generally concern myself with the cost of things I buy. As long as I only have to buy it once it is inconsequential. Snap On tools cost 4 times what a good consumer quality tool costs and 10 times what a Made in China Flea Market tool costs. The subtle differences in quality and materials make them worth the money IMO.

I think there are 2 other things - in Germany, you need a degree to pick trash up off the street (slight exaggeration). I have a friend who is studying to work with wood, he went to university for 4 years and is now an apprentice, before he enters the work force. Here, you don't need a Jr High degree. Because of this, things are more expensive, quality is demanded and always achieved. Two, the Euro vs Dollar is terrible right now. $42 sounds high, but with a more favorable conversion, it might be in the low $30's - and I doubt many people would complain too much. I was in Munich earlier this year and the average beer was eight bucks.

I am getting a screen for my 6100, the width of the water movement is considerably different between my 6100 with the 6100 screen and my 6200 dialed back to the same GPH.

It would be nice though if you could just order the 6100 or 6000 with the bigger screen.

I got my 2 screens today. They are indeed alot bigger, which is good. I can now up my 6100 a bit. I also put it on the 6000. I might be upgrading that one too.

Thanks alot Roger.
