In one of teh many office buildings in melville there is talk of a 30,000 gallon fish tank beeing installed. One of my friends who works for this company would like to know if this will be the largest privately owned fish tank in the northeast. Does any body know if this is true or not

Thankis in advance

Hope it's on the GROUND FLOOR!!!:eek1:

yeah it would suck if it collapsed as it was beign filled.
Why so large a tank anyway? whos is gonna maintain it?

I think the address is 515 Broadhollow Road (110) I am not sure who is doing the maintenance. or why they went with such a large tank. I have been told that they will have a full time aquarium staff. My friend who told me about it works for goevo.com and they are in the process of relocating. Apperently the owner of the company is a fish nut like the rest of use except I think he has deeper pockets. Does anyone know if this is larger than the aquarium in the "castle" on Dune Road in southhampton?

If they don't support it properly, it will be ;)

Speaking of the ground floor......I may be getting a 200 gallon tank sometime in the next couple of months - for free :D. Do I have to worry about putting it on a regular floor with a basement beneath? Or do I need to keep it in the basement?

When I bought my 155 I was told that any house built to code after 1950 can take that load.

You have to divide the load over the square footage it's covering.

No, that tank is about 80,000 gallons.
