Last fish or two for my 50 gallon

I have a 50 gallon deep blue, (36x18x18) and my fish list is down in my tank info. I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions as to fish that could finish off my stock list? I'm looking for some smaller attractive fish, since my melanurus is my show fish. I was looking at things like a small group of longspine cardinals, a tailspot blenny, a regular firefish, etc. Small fish that have some personality, and will get along with my current tank mates. Reef is almost entirely sps, with a clam, and some lps.

Thanks,
Andy

I think a blenny is a great idea. They have awesome personalities and are very interesting to watch.

I don't think that the regular firefish will work out - he and the purple firefish would fight until one remained.

That was a concern about the firefish. even a purple and a regular would fight huh? that sucks. The main concern with the blenny is it perching my my sps and irritating them

I have a starry blenny that likes to perch on a monti cap - doesn't seem to do any harm. He's never shown interest in acros, so I can't really comment there.

Hmmm...I'll see if anyone else chimes in. I'd love to have a tailspot blenny. Those little guys are awesome.

I'd love to have a tailspot blenny. Maybe someone else can chime in with their experiences with these fish and sps colonies.

Sorry for the double post. Tapatalk spazzed out. Maybe a mod can delete one or the other

Tailspots are wonderful little fish. Just be sure to keep your tank covered. Another more showy alternative would be a midas blenny. A watchman goby is also very eye-catching and amusing. All are undemanding fish.

A tailspot would be fine. How about a royal gramma or a midas blenny? You could fit a flasher wrasse in there, like mccosters. If you have a cover.

I do have an eggcrate cover that is custom cut for my tank. jumpers aren't really an issue. Id love a flasher wrasse. wouldn't a flasher be picked on by the melanurus though? The midas is also a nice option. A hawk might work. I don't have any shrimp left curtesy of my melanurus getting hungry during vacation

I have a starry blenny and love him. He has a great personality, perching and swimming around the tank.. it's very fascinating to watch. The other recommendations are all great choices as well. Maybe you could score a goby/shrimp pair from DD that are already together?

I have a pistol shrimp in my tank actually. I had a Randall's goby that I found carpet surfing (or I guess hardwood surfing), which prompted me to make the egg crate top. I've been thinking about another one. I love those guys. His issue was that he used my derasa clam as his perch.

Mine got along but I do have a larger tank. They're both peaceful. If your adding another wrasse put the new wrasse in an isolation box or something for a couple of days to see how they get along.

Eggcrate won't keep a tailspot or any blenny or wrasse in your tank. The openings need to be no bigger than 1/4" wide.

I would agree that eggcrate won't effectively prevent jumping. You could look into screen kits - I've read about people using a special mesh from Bulk Reef Supply and the frame kit from Home Depot or Lowes. I've had fish manage to jump through tiny gaps. Better safe than sorry.

Blennies are not acro safe I lost 10 colonies to a bicolour Benny until I sent it to jail '20 gallon live rock tank'
