I was reading some of his older posts on this and he runs an 18watt UV.
About your UV setup though, where and how is it plumbed? How many gph through it?

I'm not sure about gph - I just put a power head in the tank, hard plumb (pvc) it to the outside UV. Maybe a 1,000 gph pump - the four elbows slow the flow way down. The UVs I used came with mounting brackets which connected to the aquarium stand.
I stopped setting up tanks without UV more than 10 years ago. I also stopped listening to those who don't believe UV is a big asset. If you have 100 tanks in the field, you pretty much need every advantage you can get.

Haha thanks, but I see now that I wasn’t clear. I meant OP’s setup. I was wondering if he was running uv properly. I’m in agreement with you on UV. I run a 25watt on my return pump for my 90 gallon. I have it set up to where is the pump shuts off, the UV shuts down so there isn’t any chance of it burning up.
