Latest algae outbreak.

Six-line wrasses, yellow wrasses, and target mandarins are good at eating flatworms.

A while back, Marine Solutions had velvet nudi's but I don't think they are something that are always stocked. I would call them.

Siphoning with airline tubing works well (and you lose a whole lot less tank water that way too).

You can do a freshwater dip on some coral colonies (provided you've buffered the water up to the correct pH and have heated it to be the same temperature).

However, I would not do a freshwater dip on any live rock or the sandbed. You'll lose your clean-up crew (bristleworms and such) and you'll disturb the bacteria in them as well. If any worms don't come out and die within the rock or sandbed and most of your bacteria has also died off, you'll end up having to go through a cycle again.

The nudi is doing great. Acclimation went perfectly and it started eating right away.

It's too bad that it only eats flat worms. it would be a cool permanent addition to a reef tank.

Thanks for asking.

I'm not sure yet. It's a big job. On the bright side it's not really gotten any worse. I think it may have peaked. I will be sucking more out tonight, so in a week I think I should have an idea if the worst is over.

I'm not too concerned anymore. The tank is in great condition otherwise. Parameters are excellent, corals are growing well, and my clowns are swimming happily along together. :)

Flat worms are all over Troy, IL. Watch out Shooter!! I had a little bit of an out break happen this week. Although I had far fewer than Jamie. I decided to go with the Flatworm Exit right up front and it seems to have worked great. Can't see a living flat worm anywhere....although there's alot of places to hide in there. However I'll hold off on the call for success as I just did it today, but all is well so far. I have a bunch of bags for carbon hanging in the tank right now. If you wind up going that route give yourself plenty of time to complete the task. The instructions say you should monitor your tank for 6 hrs after putting the medication in the tank. Good Luck Jamie.

He doesn't like it, but I'm dipping my stepson in FWE every day when he comes home from school just because he's near that dirty tank they have out there at the high school. ;)
