Latitude & Longitude

Ok...here goes another silly question:

How do I enter the Lat & Long into the Aquanotes season screen? I understand where to put it, but I am not sure how to fit the format. I am trying to enter the coordinates for the Marshall Island chain at approx:

Latitude 7.588 (7 deg., 35.3 min North)
Longitude 168.948 (168 deg., 56.9 min East)

How do I enter this into a "00:00:00" format?

Curt, that's what I thought but I got an error. I'll try it again and see if maybe I made some error! Maybe it won't work with the controller offline.

kbecker very cool...thank you!

Curt, that worked great. Thanks!

Couple of questions:

In the Modify Seasons Table it shows "January" all down the left side. This is some sort of typo right? It should really read all the months I think, but I just want to check in case I have something set up incorrectly.

What advice do you have to modify the timing of the lighting in reference to using seasonal data but having the tank light later in the day. Emulating sunrise and sunset has a disadvantage in that I would rather that the tank be lit later in the day so it is lit in the evening time for viewing purposes.

So far so good...I am maintaining 76.5F throughout the day without chilling with the use of fans controlled by the ACIII Pro! :D

You've got international dates turn on in the misc tab of the config->options window. Shut off international dates and auto polling enable.

Curt

OK that worked for the months display! Thanks.

Why shut off auto polling enable? Doesn't that keep Aquanotes continuously up-to-the-minute with the ACIII?

So what about adjusting the timing of sunrise & sunset? Should I just use something like "If Sun 300/300 Then LT1 ON"?

Auto polling is used to connect to multiple sites at regular intervals. AquaNotes automatically polls the tanks in the current site.
Why not just adjust the clock in the AC3 so that it is slow by 3 hours?

Curt

OK. I got ya on changing the tank clock. I wanted to avoid that simply because I might have a problem understanding reports and making adjustments if the time is off real time, but I guess I will get used to it. (it's a stroke thing) But it does make sense to do that since that would be the simplest way.

Boy! Apparently the sun shines all friggin day in the MI's!!! That's a lot of juice. :(

jnarowe,

What I do with my seasonal lighting is have my controller set 5 hours ahead. Then I have a conversion chart in my excel sheet that I can use to look up the times (manual cross reference or formula conversion).

well I just set mine 3 hours ahead today and I'll probably bump that another hour or two tomorrow. That seems to be the best way to deal with it.

Under the seasonal table I have placed the latitude and longitude for my location in DD MM SS. However, the time for sunrise and the seasopnal temps are way off for this area. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Can you post more info? Like what your location is and exactly the numbers you have entered? Did you do the Update Sun & Moon in the Modify Season Table?

Is your tank time set up with the proper date?

The Location is Elmira, NY. I used 76:54:00 for the longitude and 42:10:00 for the latitude in DD MM SS. I noticed in a post above that Curt mentions DD HH MM, but I do feel that was an error.

The sunrise & sunset times do not reflect accurate times...IMHO.

What specifically does the term 'temperature' refer to within the seasonal table?

Thanks jnarowe!

Oh...tank date & time is right on the money

I did exactly what Curt said to do and mine works fine. Try it that way? Did you click on the update buttons? It took me a while (and some coaching) to get this right too. :)

Mine is: Longitude--168:56:54; Latitude--7:35:18 for the Marshall Islands. Maybe you should pick an area that has reefs rather than your actual location?

Temperature is a seasonal reading for water temp. so in the Summer the water temp. is higher than in the Winter.

I tried what I thought Curt was asking us to do. I also used the update buttons. I was trying to use my location and a few others for testing purposes before I picked a warmer climate. My water temp for January in the seasonal table says something in the 70's. I highly doubt that as anything that contains water is usually frozen around here at that time of year. ;-) Any other thoughts or recommendations? Thanks!

Hmmm...what could it be? Are the temps. all the same or is there variation between the months? Do you have each month represented in the table or is it all January? I remember that when I was trying to figure it out, the table had January all the way down when in fact it is supposed to have each month listed. When I got it right, it switched it over to all the months.

The temps vary from 76 - 80.5, with temps during the winter months running 75F - 76F. All of the months stated January, until I unclicked the International Date box.

This is really baffling me....

Here is a link to the actual temps for our area to date since January http://pnwpest.org/NE/data/C315406.txt . Ive also checked numerous sunrise/sunset logs for this area. Both the temps and sun logs are far different from various web sites then the season tables in Aquanotes.

The only thing that is the same is the latitude & longitude.

Hmmmmm...

Right! The International Date...that's what I was forgetting. I know it's tough. I had a hard time with it too. Have you tried a tropical setting?

You could always bite-the-bullet and call Curt. That's what I had to do. I wish I could help you more but I just can't remember what we did to get it right. I think originally I was entering the Latitude and Longitude incorrectly and I had to go over that with Curt a couple times before I got it right.

Edit: I think maybe you should play around with how you are entering the Lat. and Long. Also, are you actually keeping a cold water tank? If so, I would love to learn more about it! :)
