I would agree with you if it wasn't for two known facts; the fact that both have spawned in Karen's tank in Hawaii and female clowns cannot revert back to a male.

I read a while back of a case of a female clarkii who had layed multiple times revert back to a functional male. I believe it was in a public aquarium display. Unfortunately, I don't have a reference to it, but I believe in rare cases it is possible.
