Awesome setup!

This is the biggest red sea tank build I've followed. Looks great so far!

Love the build, any livestock yet?

Thanks for the comments.

Sorry for the delay with the updates, had a lot going on with the tank that i wasn't excited to report.

After the cycle i had added a clean up crew and a few fish including a purple tang, yellow tang, blue hippo, royal gramma, a pair of frostbite clowns, and diamond goby. Everyone was doing great...until i added a Kole tang. within two days every fish was dead, i suspect it was velvet. I've heard stories of stuff like this happening but during my 10+ years of reefing i'd never seen anything like it.

so...i did what i should have done and set up a quarantine system in my home office. it consists of a 20 long and 10 gallon with hang on back filters. I will be quarantining all fish from now on out.

I have left the tank fishless for 6-8 weeks so the parasite can die off. needless to say, it has not been fun.

I currently have a Blonde Naso tang, Kole, Royal Gramma, and Diamond Goby in QT and will be adding them to the display this evening. Fingers crossed i did everything right this time and they live a long life in the tank.

if all goes well expect many more updates

i just started to follow this thread and thought it was dead until the new update. Thats unfortunate but even with many years in the hobby we always make stupid mistakes we know better than to do.

Tank is gorgeous at least now im able to follow the thread!

If you are not running medicine I like using an air sponge they work great for a QT. I am sorry for your loss, nothing like an ol punch in the stomach, it sucks.

I've had a very similar experience... it sucks for sure. But it's also a valuable learning experience. Going forward you'll find it easier to be patient and go through all the QT steps. I'd also recommend doing TTM if you haven't tried it yet. That's the first thing I do when I bring home new fish. Glad you're back on track!

After some ups....and major downs, I'm happy to report that things are stable. Looking to add more sps and get back on track with updates!

Looking good ,how is the Vertex 200 doing on your system? It is hard to believe that a 180 gallon tank is a down grade.
Thanks. Unfortunately i could never get the vertex dialed in to my tank. After months of trouble shooting with vertex I gave up and picked up a ro elite 200int and it worked perfectly right out of the box. The vertex is like brand new and still have the box, just need to take the 5 mins to list it for sale
