lavender tang aggression

i thought lavender tangs were docile. if they are in general than i am unlucky. i just put in a powder blue and he is still getting harrassed 15 min later. is this just a chest beating thing that will calm down. my naso ignored the new pbt. only the lavender. naso is smaller than pbt but is the first tang in. is there a need to worry

It's always hit and miss when adding additional tangs. In me experience I find things go best when there is always food available and shut the lights off for at least 24 hrs. Then bring the lights back in slowly. This will help throw the fish off.

i cut the lights off about 2 hrs ago and he is still chasing so i will leave them off till monday. i hope he makes it and doesnt get ich

Yep. Tangs will do that. You bcan npt get around it. It should lessen, but be prepared. My dumb yellow tang still runs all the others tangs in the tank (including a fish literally twice his size). You can take the girl out of the trailer park, but you cant take the trailer park out of the girl!

The lavendar and powder blue are both Acanthurus species, are they not (I'm not sure on the lavendar, I've seen it listed as Ctenochaetus as well). If so, there's a chance they won't every coexist, but often it will lessen over a few days.
