Lavender tang

I have had mine for almost 1 yr, outstanding fish very active, I got mine because they stay on the small size for tangs and I only have 100gal.

I've got one, he'll eat anything I throw into the tank + all kinds of nuisance algae, including bryopsis and bubble. I think they're quite underrated...mine is beautiful!

Thanks for the help! Well I bought it I will try and post pics but I only have a kodak easyshare so pics will not be high quality.

I have a lavender too and I just love her! Swims all over the tank, picking at the rocks all day long. I just think she is the prettiest color too...I hope you like yours. We named ours "Clarabelle" LOL

Heres my Lavender Tang. Been in my tank ever since I converted to a Reef setup about 2 yrs ago.

I really like the colors on it. Changes throughout the day. But mostly appears like what is in the picture. Gets really dark purple though when surprised or mad.

The whole tank:

Switched to bare bottom after running a FOWLR for 5 years.

Fishes:
Lavender Tang
Blue Tang
Foxface
Paired Clownfish

Trying to think of one last fish to add.

:)

Beautiful Tang! I wish I knew about lavender tangs before I started stocking, what's the scientific name?

Wow love the tang Selski12, it s amazing. Question for you. Does he show any aggression to your other tangs? Also does he spend any time of his day picking at the rocks?

Actually that scientific name is wrong they are Acanthurus nigorfuscus but yea gets to about 8" mostly not aggresive I just got mine 2 weeks ago hes still adjusting.

He did show aggression towards my Blue Tang when I added it to my tank. But it was for only a couple hours though. I think maybe the reason was because the Blue Tang is almost the same size.

The Lavender Tang likes to eat just about anything. It picks rocks, the glass, but not any of the corals. Very good personality and likes to be always in front of the tank.
