Lawnmower Blenny Acclimation

just brought home this little guy today to help with minor algae issues... LFS said 20 mins then dump... for some reason i highly doubt that... anyone know the best method... im currently slow dripping.. umm... for about 30 mins now...

i guess...if in doubt slow drip it out? guess i will slow drip till 10pm, does anyone know of an acclimation table chart on how long the animals should be properly acclimated by any chance?

Slow drip is good, but don't leave them in a little bit of water so long they have a chance to pollute it. Also, you want the temp to match, so a too-slow drip tends to cool down the water.

Although today, the opposite might be true! Whew, it was hot here today.

For most fish, dripping for an hour is plenty. Just be sure to keep taking out water, too, to that the water in the bucket/bag is almost the same as the tank.

I never acclimate my fish from my LFS, simply because I buy my water from them, and run everything identical to his (Pet Supreme). I ask how the PH,temp, and SG are and always reading the same as mine.Havent had a death.

Im guessing once I start mixing my own salt Ill acclimate. But definatley drip method is best.

2nd would be roll the bag up and let it float, the take out 1/4 water out from bag and add 1/4 water from your tank 4 times in a 30 minute period.

I drip acclimate for at least an hour. The longer the better, really, as long as the fish doesn't jump out! If you're concerned about temperature, you can float a bag after you drip.

for hardier fishes like the blenny, you dont have to drip as long. it couldnt hurt though to do it as long as you can.

i wouldnt worry too much about him

I always float the bag, then while the bag is floating, adding 1/4 cup of water every 5 minutes, removing and discarding 1/4 cup every 10 minutes for 60 minutes. Then, I'll slice the bag in 4-5 places to allow tank water to flow through the bag for another 10 minutes. What?! Yes, by that time much of the LFS water has already been removed, and what little is left will be sufficiently diluted in the QT water.

I'd do the same for a blenny, hardy or not. It's the easiest part of the hobby, and most likely to have the largest impact on the health of your tank.

just dumped the bag... hope all is well... i went to catch a movie since there were no responces before i left i almost thought i was asking a stupid question and no one wanted to humor me...lolz... i emptyed the bad once before i left and continued the slow drip. if he makes it through the night all should be good... let you guys know tomorrow... *(fingers crossed) thanks for all the advice :)
