join the "my fat @$$ LMB wont eat hair algae" club. Then when you figure out what will, let me know. :)

Seriously though, mine eats the green slime algae on the glass, but not hair algae. Could be worse if your lucky like my Dad and get one that does eat it, he'll get real fat until he eats it all, then he'll starve to death. I've been gonna get some more Turbo snails, and see if that helps, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Guys depending on the amount of algae you have a sea hare will literally mow down the stuff it will only take a couple of weeks to wipe it out in a 90 that is infested with it. I know from experience problem is feeding them when its gone.

I don't have a whole lot of hair algae, I have that low growing green turf algae. The LMB eats it some but not enough. I bout a couple of Black Turbos and a Sally Lightfoot yesterday. The Sally Lightfoot is going to town on the turf algae, even climbing the back glass to get at it. Thanks for the advice Allen, and p.s. I'm glad to hear you decided to stick with the hobby.

My demonic hermit crab ate one of my black turbos 2 days after I put them in. I bought 3 more today and placed them all on a patch of cyano and they ate it all. We'll see if they keep it away. Iconz, I dont think the LMB will touch the cyano.

One can only hope, I guess... I bought some snails as well.. Hopefully one of them will clear it up... I'm also in search of some Cheato to finnaly add to my sump to help keep the phosphates in check.

i bought turbo snails and them things will eat anything in their path lol.......they cleaned my tank up in about four days

for a yet unknown reason, i cant keep turbos alive for more than 4 weeks.

normally, i would be ok with spending money on something like that--they can clean it up in four weeks--but they arent chemicals, they are alive, so i feel guilty about the serial killing :(

advice? thoughts?

my lmb is much fatter now, and the hair algae is getting worse. cyano is gone.

i have a sea hare we named shrek (those ear things!), and he eats over the whole tank except for one 1' x 1' spot...you know, where the algae is...

LOL Shrek thats a good one!! The Sea Hare not eating that one spot is kinda wierd maybe somethings there he doesn't like?

Are you getting your turbos from the same source each time, or have you tried different types of turbos? If your getting Mexican Turbos, they don't live very long.

i've gotten them from 3 different places...i read that article about having to acclimate very slowly and precisely for success, and i dont think i did that very well before (but i didnt just float and dump either).

our most recent nose count shows missing:
3 peppermints
1 scarlet
1 cleaner
1 sea hare
1 nudibranch

AND:
1 extra anemone

hmm...i think i just figured out something...
