Have you guys read about the use of lasers to kill aiptasia, algae, GPS, etc.? Interesting discussion:

Sounds like a fun alterative to the zapper, but has serious safety issues if you don't know what you are doing. If you know someone that wants to show you how one works, READ this article first!

I am off this week and think I will stick with trying to make a zapper....

Read some of that thread does seem a lil to "extreme" for me. Curious if you could attacth a piece of pvc pipe or something to shield it, if that would eliminate, or atleast lesson the chance of reflection, fish damage and such... just stick pvc over area you want affected and blast? Just a thought from someone that knows nothing about lasers... Any thoughts?

i have reservations about that as well, what happens if one of your fishes dart by while zapping unwanted pests--the results are devastating, and not to mention, if it's strong enough to cut thru a box, then it can do some damage to rock or glass, even if it does not actually break those items, but it could weaken them where eventually( while you are sleeping---CRASH, there goes your reef

just my 0.02

Yes, I was thinking the same thing on some type of tube. I think in the tread he made some homemade type of temp tube to do the same. I think at some point if you get run away weeks you may get desperate enough...lol

I started my zapper project today. Hope it works and I won't need a laser
