Here is my Clownfish story. Maybe someone can help, although I think it might be an unusual situation.
Back in June 2013, I bought a pair of Black Onyx Snowflake clowns. They were in QT for 6 weeks and showed no sign of disease. They were transferred to the DT after QT and lived there for for about 4 months when suddenly, without warning, the female clown died. She was fine one minute and dead the next. After posting a thread and receiving some help via PM from MrTuskfish, we assumed that she had just died. There were no telltale signs of any disease and all the fish have been healthy since that time.
I decided to wait until the remaining clown turned female and then purchase a male. The remaining clown was active and would swim around in the tank like normal. As he got older and I suspect became female, he because lazy. He would just hang out in the corner of the tank where they used to sleep together. He would come out to eat and would sometimes be seen swimming around in the tank, but not very often.
One day I noticed what looked like a hair sticking out of his butt. The only thing I could find was an internal parasite, although it didn't look like stringy poop. Almost that he had swallowed a cat hair or something.
Anyway, I decided to treat the tank with PraziPro. I performed two back-to-back treatments according to the instructions. After treatment, he still just hung out in the corner, so after about 2 weeks between treatment, I upped the dose and treated the tank again.
That was about 2 months ago. He still just hangs out in the corner, only venturing out to eat and maybe a little bit in the evening. Other than that, he just hangs out in the corner. I tried changing his diet, thinking that maybe the food was binding him up or something, but that didn't help.
Is it possible that he is sick? I just don't see how since he went through a proper QT and no other fish have show any signs of illness and all went through a proper QT. Or is it just possible that he is lazy or bored now that he doesn't have a mate? I bought a juvenile clown over the weekend, but he is in QT right now.
None of the other fish are sick and have been in perfect health. He isn't getting bullied in any way and everyone gets along together really well.
