Lazy Clowns

Does anyone else have lazy clowns? I have two ocellaris clowns. small to medium size maybe 2" in my 21 nano. They both just hang out in the water column on the back of the tank. One hangs out behind my Jebao rw-4 and the other between my suction cup thermometer and the glass on the other side of the tank.

They do this all day. they might swim across the bank every now and then, but I can honestly say in the 5 weeks I have had them, they have never once that I have seen swam out into the display. They just love it back there.

One of my clowns was doing that for a few weeks until I got a friend for him. He liked the back corner of my tank between the pump return and my powerhead. In this past week he has been more active than the past month, and today he decided to take another step and finally bond with my BTA.

I feel glad I am not alone lol. I know they are healthy, just find it funny they are lazy (like me I guess). My tank is not ready for a BTA yet, only 2 months old. I picked up a decent size frogspawn (baseball size when extended) to see if that might catch their attention and draw them out. At worse I have a great looking FS in my tank :)

My clown is 50/50. He either hangs in the corner, seems that my temperature probe is hosting him, or he is just zooming around the tank like crazy. He also gets really excited for food when I walk up and open the top.

Are your levels stable? I have a 14G Biocube, it's only about 3 months old. BTA is doing fine and happy. It even had a spawning event one night. I'd say it was stress involved but my levels have been pretty solid. My nitrates are slightly high <20ppm but everything else is good. It's up to you though, no need to rush it. But it is pretty cool to watch them begin to bond. Hopefully yours decide to become less introverted soon. :)

I added a flowerpot today, I put it up on the rock by the back wall to hopefully get hem in and used to, then I plan to move it up front and see if they follow

They are home bodies, because in the ocean if they leave their home they will be eaten pretty quickly. Very poor swimmers

yes, this is what I am discovering :) It doesn't bother me overly much. I just wish they would enjoy more than the back wall. I'm now trying to figure out how to get them into the flower pot haha, they are inches away and just ignore it. always fun
