Hi, I setup a new an 90 Gallon tanks and it has a Eurobrace all around. The overflow box was preinstalled by the manufacture and has been leaking since I fill the tank with water. What should I do now. The thing is I can not get my hand inside to tight the bulkhead and I try to put silicon on but that does not hold so well.

What Should I Do .

Thanks :deadhorse1::debi:

You cant get any tools in there to hold the nut while u can twist from outside? You can always reverse the bulkhead where nut is outside.

You shouldn't need to get your hand inside. Likely something in between the washer and the glass, assuming the tank doesn't have any inhabitants yet, drain it, reseat the bulkhead and tighten it down (but don't overtighten).

I would not use silicon. The first time I installed my overflow and bulkhead I was too concerned about not over-tightening it. Had a slow leak on all three bulkheads. Then when I went to tighten them I had the problem you have where my hand didn't fit into in the overflow.
Solution was take it all apart and clean the glass and seals. Then I bought a strap wrench to tighten the nuts. You'll want to see that the seal gets compressed and I couldn't do that by hand.

What all of them have said.

Silicon will just make a nasty mess. Is the tank glass or acrylic? If acrylic, the silicone wouldn't adhere anyway.

Take it apart, clean everything and reassemble. Be sure to check the mating surfaces for the bulkhead itself to make sure there are no stray pieces leftover from the mold and the threads are clean. If it's a glass tank, just enough silicone plumbers grease to make the gasket shiny (NO GLOBS) can make it a bit easier to snug it up but really isn't needed for most.
