Leak test

So i want to fill my tank and test for leaks run the pumps to check for leaks on the plumbing. Would it be alright to fill the tank with tap water then drain it after im done testing and wipe it down, or will that leave bad stuff still in the tank?

cant put RO/DI water in the tank yet cause i just got my unit from buckeye and its a 5 stage, but i was only shipped 4 filters, unless i read the papers wrong im missing a filter.

Using tap to test is fine. Won't hurt a thing.

Yeah, use tap water. Run your garden hose in there and fill 'er up. Drain it when you're done.

Yeah I did that with mine. Ran it for a few weeks with tape before starting the tank up for real.

But be warned. Just because it doesn't leak during your test (mine didn't) doesn't mean it can't spring a leak 6 weeks into you running a tank (mine DID). Not to be a downer but always keep your eye on it and if you do start leaking. DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED. Go to the LFS get a new tank (get it RR this time) and get everything transfer over as fast as possible. Pick up where you left of and you'll be very happy.

Not trying to curse you or anything but the advice is good for anyone else who might read in.

well then tomorow night i will probably be fill up this tank, i got to deal with a fresh water angel couple that just laid like 50 eggs in my 55g fresh water tank.

BTW, you only have 4 filter on a 5 stage.

Depending on who you get it from, a storage tank could count as a stage but normaly you get Sedimen/Carbon Block filter, Membrane, DI Resin and the storage tank.

bbehring, i got most of the CL done, still have like 5 more pipes to glue, i might still fill it tonight, but wont be able to test the CL till tomorow when it all drys. will post pics tonight thou hehe

Icefire, i had to pick up the chloromine special which has 4 canisters and the top canister for the RO membrane. I think its sediment, carbon, GAC converter, RO membrane and then the DI resenine. got it from buckeye
