I am in the process of searching for a good sump for my 135g FOWLR tank. I am in the process of getting and MR-2 Skimmer from MRC. Just basically looking to learn all I can about sumps I currently have a Magnum 350 pump/filter system can I use that in conjuction with my sump to pump the water back into my tank or do I have to buy a new pump for the return. I am getting a Blue Line 55 with my MR-2. Any thought or inputs are greatly appreciated.

So Should I buy two of the same pumps then. Two BL-55 pumps. Thanks again

You will only need one pump to return the water back to the tank. You will need an overflow to get the water to the sump.

I take it you're planning on putting the MR-2 in the sump, as well as heaters, mechanical filtration, etc.

Personally, I would (assuming your tank is not drilled) get 2 600gph overflows and install a Mag 12 in the sump to return the water back to the tank. If heat is already an issue with your system, and if you have the room, look into getting an external pump such as an Iwaki.

Also, assuming you're putting the sump in the stand, I would also try to get the largest sump you can fit in there. Or, make you own. My sump is a 55g AGA tank under my 125g display.
