Learning how to take good tank shots

I am just learning how to use my Canon rebel xti for my tank....
these are the best shots I have so far: they are at 1600 ISO hence the graininess. got a lot to learn (As if the tank itself wasn't enough work!!!)

nice pics. i have to admit that i've been trying unsuccessfully to take good pics of my reef tank for years. i really like the closeup of the zoos.

The key to getting good shots of your tank are to use a tripod and turn off your tank circulation. Also try to use only the light of the tank. I have also found it easier to get good pics by using my longer lens since it allows me to be farther away from the tank and not spook the fish.

The Canon Xti isn't a 35mm camera at all. It is actually slightly less than 22mm. "Pfffttt, big deal your totally nit picking" you say. Well the difference is at least $1500+ and it will hugely effect your photography. You should do some homework on sensor sizes. While your ~22mm camera can use the same Canon lenses as the actual 35mm cameras (such as the 5D and 1Ds), their effect will be changed and you will likely buy completely different lenses with a 22mm camera (or 1.6 crop sensor) than you would with a 35mm camera.
