Leather me up!

I currently have Around 30 corals, some hardy corals and some much more sensitive. Now here is the kicker, I have 3 leathers which are fairly hardy I'd say.However all 3 leathers have no strength and are drooping.They cannot hold themselves up! Now if all the other corals in my tank look great and healthy, What would a leather need that is not being supplied in the tank? I'm lost on this.I have had all 3 leathers for about 6 months and the water chemistry is great.Plus the rest of the tank is rockin.They are all up high in the tak so lighting isent a issue.If anybody has any clues on this that would be awsome! Thanks so much! Also there is plenty of water flow and it is a 75g tank. Thanks.

Lighting might be the issue if they are high up. What kind of lighting do you have.

Im using coralife power compact 48''. Could they need less light?

When was the last water change? If chemistry is OK, you may just need to move them to less or more flow. Iodine should be good if your doing H2O changes.

Thanks guys.Haven't been able to check my iodine yet.I do a 15g water change once a month and a 5g between that.Would high salinity effect the corals like this? mine is around .028 and I regularly have to add 5g of fresh water just to get it to .026. let me know what you guys think.Thank you again!

I'd say do a bigger water change once a month.
You figure sea waters only good for a month or so (element wise)
So replacing at least 20-30 gallons a month in a heavily stocked tank is crucial.
Of course if you dose the proper chemicals/which you have to test for, ect. you can avoid the need for such frequent water changes.

Personally, I do a 20 gallon water change every two weeks in my 60 gallon/lightly stocked reef.

They may need more flow, what kind of pumps are you running in the 75?

Also, what type of leathers are they?

The high salinity could do it, I know my leathers get ticked off anytime SG gets above 1.026.

What is your alkalinity running at? Temp?

Your salinity would appear to be the biggest problem. Try lowering the salinity to between 1.022 and 1.025. Anything higher and the lethers will start getting irritated.

How long have they been drooping, and what is your temp range? Also, what type of filtration are you running, and have there been any changes in the tank in the last month or so?
