Leathers And SPS

I have a decent size toadstool leather right infront of my return . The return blows right across the polyps and right into a huge colony of various acro colonies.

im attributing some of my coral loss ( a few pieces recently) to this toadstool becoming too large. I do run GAC in a reactor 24-7. but that doesnt help because the return blows directly into it!. does this sound right?

im going to cut it down to size and sell a piece of it. should i be worried about toxins after i cut it on the SPS

I have a very large leather that sits just below the intake of my MP40 and I have not seen any ill effects on my SPS. I run GAC 24/7 as well. My SPS troubles seem to be more No3/P04 related than softie related.

I have a toadstool as well about 6" across would like to know if its time to get rid of him to make room for the sps

That seems like a question that only you can answer :D

If you want to see more SPS in your tank, get rid of it. If you dont mind the "mixed" reef, then keep it. My Toadstool is approx 10" in diameter and is taking up more room than I would like... but its the wife's favorite coral... so....

You can keep SPS and Leathers together so theres no real "need" for you to get rid of it IMO.
