leave nori in the tank?

Today I bought a foxface which is my first fish that I have had to feed nori to. I was just wondering how long you leave the nori in the tank before taking it out if the fish doesn't finish it all? I've heard that its good to always have some food available for them, because they eat through out the day. Does leaving it in the tank uneaten alter water chemistry?

I add some in the morning, and take it out when I get home from work. Usually all gone anyway; PBT and Sailfin. Clean the feeding clip and start over :) If there is any uneaten nori I remove it.

By trial and error I found that it will take them a couple of hours to eat about one third of a sheet so that is what I add once a day. So if you find out that after say 12 hours they do not consume it all just add less amount. By the way I fold it several times to make a little about 2"x1" square that I put in the feeding clip. I foud that this way they do not tear it apart and ends up floating all over the place.
A couple of drops of vitamin and garlic goes well with it too.

Great idea jdieck! Thanks

I modified my feeding clip to swing down from the canopy, tired of chasing it around. Love the garlic idea on the nori/bet they go crazy over it?

I leave mine in the tank all day and take out any that's left just before lights-out. I got tired of retrieving mine from the bottom of the tank (stupid suction cups) so I used a little epoxy to secure it to an old Mag-Float. Now I can move it around if needed and it stays put even when the fish get enthusiastic and try to rip the sheet out of the clip :D

They really love it I is funny to see the three Tangs waiting in line taking turns to get at it. Even the wrasses go after the nori.

yeah a rabbit should have no problem finishing off the nori in there. Put it in there in the mourning it will be gone.

I'm getting kinda worried about the little guy. I got him on saturday and I haven't even seen him look interested in any food. He's maybe a little over 3", bright yellow coloration(not dull) and extremely active. I've given him all sorts of choices like nori, romaine, brocolli but still won't eat :(

Try some natural live algae from the LFS (Gracilaria or something he might like) for the time being. Also check at the store what were they were feeding him

Yay! I finally got the foxface to eat something. I put some chaeto from the fuge into the tank and its almost all gone. Its pretty fun watching this guy eat with his little mouth rapidly munching. I'm glad I don't have to worry about that anymore. Thanks everyone
