ok guys I am in the process of breaking down my 75,55 and 30 long tanks. I have a few fish and stuff left. I am going to figure out the best way to do this. It was nice to meet all of you. maybe in a year or two I will do this again. today is just a sad, sad, sad day for me:mad:

I'm an impatient, impulsive, instant gratification kinda girl.

It's OK Amy, I too thought that putting water in the tank, and mixing up some "Instant Ocean" would be an amazing experience.

Boy was I wrong when All I got was a 75 gallon tank filled with sand, rocks and salty tasting water ! There were no fish, corals, shrimps, sharks.... not even a single damn whale song to be heard !

I tried to sue the company for False advertizing, but then they told me to read the fine print on the bucket of "Instant Ocean" sea salt. Man was I miffed to find out it was only just SALT ! :(

I'm sure you have a lot going on in your life right now, and at times, we all need to adjust our hobbies and interest to accomodate the best interst of animals and the welfare of our own minds' sanity.

Perhaps in the future, you will attempt another forray into reefing.

Best wishes,

D.

ps: I hope this isn't contagious..... First Lou, now you.....

I'm going to wear my rubber haz-mat suit to the next meeting.

thanks the reason I am leaving is my two fav fish died and it is just to heart breaking to do this anymore. (I have the one fish as a tattoo on my hip) He was my baby and I have to much going on now to keep working on this. I might keep my 30 that has been up for a few years and just have the fish only tank .

As for leaving the Hobby!.. There's little way to put this nicely.

That person either juss never had the interest in the first place, had something that truely takes precedence over this hobby "Totally understandable!!!" Or they are an A1 quiter.?

So I guess you just have to ask yourself the simple question.. "Which are you?"

Deaths are always set backs.. Never so to make you back completely out and quit. That just says your weak and can't take a set back or challenge in the 1st place. Suck it up people.

That's pretty harsh dude. Some people have more appreciation for the animals they are taking out of the ocean for mere gratification, and in my opinion, that commands respect.

thank you. It has just been so hard for me. My husband keeps telling me that it's just a fish and we can "replace" him. that fish had more of a personality and I loved him. He was my fav. people just don't go out and replace dogs that they have had for years.. these last few weeks have been problem after problem and this just did me in. it sucks too. I am just sick of all these issues. plus out of all my fish it had to be him. for christ sake I have him permently inked on my flesh. I just need a few days to figure out what to do. I can't even talk about it with out crying. All I have left now is my tang and my damsel . and the damsel hates me. he bites me when ever I put my hand in the tank

Has anyone ever seen a damsel that didn't just hate everything though? Always will be mean fish

There is a big difference between a dog and a fish, A dog has alot more of a personality than a fish, Im not saying that fish don't have a personality, yeah they look beautiful and swim, and swim and swim , and some will eat out of your hand, but you can't compare fish to dogs or cats. They are a totally different aspect of animal. I understand that you can be attached to any type of animal and feel bad if something happens,, but on another note this hobby isnt for someone who is going to get "emotional" everytime something takes a turn for the worst. If thats the case then Im sure there alot of people here that, would need "fish Therapy" LOL. You shouldn't cry over "Spilt Milk". This hobby takes time and PAITENCE... without that of course your tanks are going to crash. Many people loose fish, we got rid of our puffer, yeah we were sad, but we didn't loose sleep over it. So in my opinion if someone is going to get this upset over loosing a fish or two or whatever, then maybe this hobby isnt the best one for you. In order to achieve the "perfect" tank ( if there is one) then its going to be alot of hard work and paitence. Miracles don't happen overnight......... IT would be nice if they did LOL..

yeah but I have had these fish for years. any life loss can be upsetting. I don't like to be the cause of any animal, fish or even a spider's death. maybe I have to much respect for life. Sorry I like all my pets, even my fish! And by the way losing a few fish and not being upset, sorry I am not a heratless bastard like yourself. I won't even kill a spider and they creep me out. . People like hitler had that same outlook as you. Like sending all those jews to their death. and all the people that they slaughtered along the way, no sense crying over spilt milk, right!a lot of work and paitences for the perfect race. bottom liine is life is life and even it is so meaningless to you,

One thing first I like to be called a B***Ch, not a bastard. another thing, like your husband said they are "only fish , you can replace them", thats the joy of this hobby. And DON'T even compare my outlook on this aquatic hobby to HITLER. thass just wrong, these are fish and they were people. Im not going to argue over this and " Lose Sleep". LOL All Im saying isI'm sorry for your loss, but why get all stressed and upset about something so little as a fish .

I have to say it's disappointing to hear fish being suggested as disposable life, but this is heading towards a religous type of argument without an end, so how about we drop it and move on?

There's little chance of continuing this conversation without offending more people than those that have already been offended.

The size of the loss is not quantifiable by the value of the life---which on the planet's scale may be small---but by the size of the human heart that loved it.
Sorry for your loss, Cruella. Heal and come back.

why get so upset about people dying, they are only people right. fish have just as much value . the big lecture was that when you take on this hobby you have to respect that you are providing a happy, healthy home for these animals. if we can not do this leave them in the ocean. everyone knows that I love my fish just as much as I love my dog, my friends and my other pets. hell most of the time I enjoy sitting in front of my tank hanging with my fish, then hanging out with my friends. Sorry if I offended anyway with the hitler comment. His outlook was it doesn't matter who dies or who you hurt along the way. that people can be replaced. all in the name of perfection.

Let me just delete my own statement

Her qoute says it all

Ya know I think you guys are right, this post should be deleted!
It's just one huge slap in the face to anybody who has lost real Family to hear them compared to losing a fish.
