So I've decided on going with 36 Cree LEDs 2 royal blue to 1 cool white for my 40B.
They will be set approximately 12in. above the water and/or 24in from the sandbed.
I plan on using 40 degree optics, as if my math is correct I should get a light area of about 18in. in diameter on the bottom of the tank per diode.
LEDs will be about 2.5in. apart.
Does this sound sufficient enough for an SPS dominated tank to all the LED guru's out there?
