I don't know the answer but there was a article on LEDs in the last issue of Coral magazine. It might help.

What are the dimensions? I would say look at AI sols to start. Search around for other tanks with similar dimensions to yours and see what they have done for LEDs.

Yes AI sols would easily support what you need have posted. They would not need to run at 100% either. How many you need depends on tank dimensions, and the type of coverage you want.

ok i looked at the ai sol can these be mounted to the canopy? they also come in blue and white? I was unable to find any that came in blue and white. i saw either all blue or all white. Is the par rating different between the 2 colors?
Would one white and one blue look ok. I am worried about one side of the tank looking white while the other side has a blue hue too it.

AI Sol blue has white,blue an royal blue which can all be tailored to whatever color temperature you like. You would be ok with 2.

The AI Sol is very popular here on RC as there is a lengthy thread discussing it. However, there are many, many, other choices and I would highly recommend talking to owners or better yet viewing tanks with other LED fixtures before choosing. Personally I have tested AI, Maxspect, and Pacific Sun and I can say that Pacific Sun wins hands down. It was the only fixture which kept my stylo alive.

I certainly don't disagree with that sentiment!
But, personally, I buy the best I can find for my tank, while at the same time I dream of someday making something in the USA that the whole world wants like an Apple iPad or an F-22, or better yet a Predator and a Navy Seal, only you know simpler like a skimmer or a light fixture :artist: and I agree . . . the AI Sol is an excellent product . . . but I don't think it's the best (and remember this is only one dude's OPINION)
I like my Acan 104, now called the 600 series. Comes with both mounting legs and hanging kit. At full power it's definitely more "sol white" with 2:1 white to blue. Price tag is a little more but it's well built, sleek and sexy. If you looking for a nice fixture (opposed to modules) give it a look.

This is an incredibly weak response from an internet standpoint, but the truth is I'm trying to sell an article including information with photos directly relating to this topic so watch for something in the news. I appreciate all the folks that give info for free, but after spending $5000+ on research I'm hoping for a tiny return . . .

OK JP, well that explains your posts about the issues with the Apogee PAR meter and establishing good PAR numbers on LEDs.
