LED Lighting over T5 lighting which is king

So it seems I am always getting someones hand me downs as the current technologies are always soo expensive the good thing is I get to see which is best in the long run ..So which do you think is best has t5 lighting reached it's maximum potential? I know led lighting is still improving and hasn't maxxed out yet ..so which is best let me know what you think..

T5 lighting will not be able to improve since the design for them is rather concrete. LEDs are just becoming powerful enough to provide light penetration and efficiency similar to MH and T5 respectfully. The cost of LED lighting is probably the inhibiting factor at this moment. If you plan to make your own and have them for a few years they are about the same cost as T5s. Some people use the two in combination which seems to be a good idea ATM.
