LED Upgrade

Well it is that time again guys. I am upgrading from a t5 (4 bulb) fixture Odyssea (yea i know what was I thinking :headwally but it was all mass purchase to get something running quick, curious about the fixture too. Not only that but the fixture is using the legs to stand on the aquarium, hehe. To be honest i have not had any issues with the fixture itself, but I hated that it did not have individual reflectors. It is time to get the good stuff. I will be replacing it with a hanging Aquaillumination 36" rail with two modules. I will post pre and post pics as soon as I can.

Once this is in affect I will be replacing the aquarium with another Oceanic pre_drilled setup to get rid of all my HOB equipment.

I just got my new t5 setup...its awesome...the other one that I had one had two bulbs, this one has four. Huge light difference!!

Yea Lorenzo my 4 T5 was not enough for my SPS so I am upgrading to an LED which I am very much looking forward to.

Yea Lorenzo my 4 T5 was not enough for my SPS so I am upgrading to an LED which I am very much looking forward to.

I made an led setup, however, I didnt push enough air through the heat sink so it fried my LED's. I just need to buy new LED's and its up and running for my 29 bio cube which I plan on using for a propagation tank.

As far as my T5 HO, I have a 55 gallon tank which is enough light, I dont want to fry my corals.
I had a 200 gallon tank I was going to setup but I sold it. The cost of getting all the material for it would of killed me!

My 55 is good enough for now, plus I have another one 55 sitting here..waiting to be setup for something.

This setup has about 5 months but the DSB has made a huge difference in controlling the nitrates.

Pics were taken after lights out so that nothing stood out too much. I do not like to run moon LED very often, only to stimulate the coral every now and then.

Ok guys the AI LEDs came in today and I will be performing the install tomorrow. I hope I get the alignment correct. HAHA I will post before and after picks once I am done.

After a couple hours of leveling and anchoring the new AI lights, here is the current setup.

Now for my next project is to add the refuge/sump under the tank and take off all the HOB equipment I can.

BTW: Ten minutes after I had the lights on 50% the corals were responding very nicely and opened up nicer than before. The Ricordea are taking a little longer to get used to the light but I will have to keep an eye on that.

I do not know about you guys but I see a huge difference in the pictures let alone in person. The older lights had an ugly yellowish ting and the new lights offer the softer bluish color I was looking for and the intensity control I was looking for. WOOT
