LED wall washers for lighting?

OK so here's the deal, I ordered a bunch of LED wall washers designed for outdoor or indoor use. These are what most larger buildings use when they want to light up a wall outside, they change colors and are controllable using a Controller.

They are 36 watt version, each one has 36-1 watt LED lights. I was thinking of using these on my tank, what do the pros on here think?

I was originally going with MH w/ T5 supplementation and then thought about this. The tank is 36*60*22 deep, will be having a mixed reef.

I ordered in bulk from China. I have like 50 or so, I'll post up a link to the site in a few. You can change the colors using the controller, I don't think T5's would be neccesary...

I saw these at a Casino trade show and was quite intrigued by them.

The company couldnt give me any info on color temps that could be achieved and the other concern I have is the spread they could cover.

I dont think they would spread their light much thus making it necessary to have a quite a few of them to cover a tank.

Let me know how they work out...

Well for me even if I used 6 of them it would still be comparable in price to what i had planed and I would have the benefits of LED technology. I don't need the penetration of MH's because after my sand the deepest point in the tank will only be 20-21" deep. Market price on these are usually 700-1200 per unit so for most it would be easier/ cheaper to go with the usual LED's.

chinese knockoff 1w LEDs are good, but not great. for the cost id be fairly certain youd be better with a solaris or something. if they were cheap sure, but if your saying 700$ for them, no way.

total price for me is around 1600 or so which would come out to 144 watts. I'm considering this mainly becuase I already have them and it's no additional cost as they are surplus. I'm sure the AI or Solaris would be better but they would most likely be in the 3-4k range and if that is the case I would go with my original plan of MH's with T5.

2004jetta,
How much are they per unit and is there a minimum you have to buy?
I run a night club and have been looking for some of these/
Thanks,
Sean

fwiw, solaris runs 3w LEDs, and has 26 of them per foot, so thats roughly 75watts of top notch LEDs per foot.. so yeah, you can see the limitations, 144watts of less efficient LEDs, it would likely light about 2' of tank for reef. and being that they are presumably designed for outdoors, Id hope theyd be ok in the reef enviroment, but cant promise it, proceed at your own discretion.

Im trying to use LEDs as a supplemental light source for before and after my MH's are on and turn off. I ordered 8-3w white 100lm LEDs off ebay and ran them through a buckpuck and a 32v power adapter. I can light the whole room. Not extremely bright but im just looking for a way to see things in the tank when my 2-250w phoenix 14k's in lumenbright reflectors with new version icecaps. Has anyone a good link to where you can find nice high output LEDs? Im looking at running 16 LEDs total. most likely a combo of white and royal blue to get right color temp. Cree q4's 3w are suppose to put out about 170lm @700mA. Any Ideas?
