LEDs for SPS?

Would a DIY LED light with 45 royal blue LEDs, 15 white LEDs and 12 moon lights. If not how many LEDs would I need? What do you have to add to the water to keep softies with SPS? Thanks;)

what kind of leds? how deep is the tank?

in most typical cases Id say 60 LEDs over a 135 is nowhere near enough, but that considers even spacing, etc.. for all I know you could be planning on only lighting half the tank.

+1, Probably not enough. Now if you meant 60 LEDs by doing 2x Radion fixtures, that would be about right. I'd recommend you contact Bill from Reefledlights, he'll tell you exactly what you'll need in terms of DIY. My guess is roughly 2 x 48 Cree kits.

My tank is 6X1.5X2 and I have been told 60 LEDs is more than enough for softies so thought it might be enough for SPS. There will be 45 royal blue cree LEDs and 15 white cree LEDs but might add more if needed for SPS I want to keep 3 blue to 1 white. They will most likely be from reef LED lights. I am planing to have LEDs over the whole tank but if it is a lot cheaper I might do softies on one side and SPS on the other. With this said how many LEDs would be needed for the whole tank and for half. thanks

I think that would be close. IMO, 120-180 would be good. The more the better. If it were me, I'd be sure to include some neutral whites in along with the cool whites and a couple warm whites without optics on each side. Also, a good amount of blues mixed in with the royals. Try to get the Cree XT-E royal blues if you can.
