LEDS.....how high?

So I bought the Maxspect Razor 160 and have hung it using its own brackets at about 7 inches off the water surface. They supply a hanging kit also but as yet I haven't employed it.
A visit to my lfs yesterday, has me re-thinking the optimal height aspect of my Maxspect. I have them at only 60% during the noon cycle as they ramp up/down..but max is 60%.
Owner says 6/7 inches might be why some new and expensive corals died recently (purchased there btw).
So my question is, what does led height have to do with the overall health of lps and sps coral and softies too? Other than light diffusion to the edges of the tank fall off that is.

Thanks in advance.

I think it does, I burnt corals when I used the legs supplied with the razor. When I hung it I hung it 12" from the surface and have had better results and I can run them brighter for better color.

Did you use the hanging kit supplied?
My concerns with using the kit is finding the exact spot to drill into my ceiling so the light is centered.

How did you hang yours please and thanks.
