LEDs Lighting Question

Hi all,
Haven't really posted in here for awhile but have been sneakily watching everyone's tanks grow. As you all may or may not know I got back in the hobby and back with a 20 Gal. I haven't really added much yet but I was playing around with light bulbs from previous fresh water tanks and was curious if there was any LEDs light out there that could replicate the light from my pic and be strong enough for corals?

Right now I'm just using a Fluval full spectrum, can't rember the model but it just has day lights and the blue lights. Wanting something more without it taking a large chunk of my savings.

Don't mind the floating royal gramma holding him for a friend.

I forgot to attach the photo lol

Look into Black boxes on amazon Clown.

Something in the mars aqua line. 100$ for a LED that will grow anything. I personally have switched to T5's with LED supplementation.

If it was me, I want something that can be program remotely, I like to just set it and go. So maybe look at the reefbreeder nano WiFi or AI Prime HD? Both are around $200.

My thoughts on all these wifi apps and carp for lights. You only need to set and forget, so why pay the extra for an app that can adjust the lights when you'll more then likely only every need to use it once or twice.

I honestly think a lot of newbies run into problems because they are constantly fidgeting with their lights(just because they can). Reef tanks like stability more then any number on a test kit, or percentage on their lights. This is the one reason so many people have had great success with metal halides and T5's IMO.

Hmmm I will have to check these out. Thank you homer! Hope you're doing well!

One of these will be just right for your tank.

While they are manually adjustable, and don't come with all the bells and whistles, they are only 103$. They will certainly grow anything you put under them. They are fairly popular and when I started my larger tank I originally went with 2 of the 300W versions. Everything I put under them grew.

And yes I'm doing fine, thank you. Yourself?

Hey homer, in your experience with the light above does it give off that slight magenta look? Are you able to adjust the colors?

Sry to jump in ;)
I use these as well, haven't noticed any magenta look. There is a just blues control and an everything else control you can dim each 20-100%. you could potentially just leave the blues on as night lights etc. I got a set that was wifi enbled so I could set it to have the blues stay on and the others turn on /off and dim automatically instead of rapid change my schedule isn't set firmly enough to do this manually..... the wifi was a waste, the app doesn't work and I ended plugging the entire set in timer and getting a small separate moonlight from rapidled (these are awesome lights too if you want to custom build).. the lights themselves work fine. I have two sets on my L shaped 45 gal that is 16" tall.. they are roughly 12" from tank top. I never moved the full spectrum over 20% and only have blues at 30. I have soft lps nems and a Maxima in this tank.

Ah I have a 25 fuge or species specific tank with these https://m.ebay.com/itm/12-18-24-30-...hash=item3f87cb271f:m:m1sQJQFl6My0M47CWnvXyOQ
They gave a pink and blue light spectrum and grew soft coral. I added two evergro lamps when I added a LTA. In pic, tank on the left is 25gal just for reference.View attachment 388805

Hmm ab bit hard to tell but will definitely look them up.
Sry I know picsnot the best,
when i started that tank I was only going to do so soft fast growing coral like GSP which I love but don't want to kill my LPS coral and mabe some shrooms zoas etc. The lights were around twenty bucks lol so I gave it a shot.. they worked for shrooms, GSP, pallys/zoas but then I ended moving my red saddleback clowns in and got them a long tentacle. If not for that I'm sure they'd still be working fine on their own. The lights had more pink than most I've seen but not so much the tank looked red. It did give my green pieces more of an electric yellow look though which is subject to preference.

The evergro lamps are also a good bang for the buck imo, but look more white over all than blue or pink. if your just looking for ashterics you could always get a good growing light and supplement with a color puck or strip, then you could do what ever suits you.

Anyone else knows of a led light that gives you different options of light besides just white and the blue? Maybe a mix with a magenta hue.

Won't the AI Prime work for you? It's pretty inexpensive, and I believe has customizable coloration as well. The Radion XR15w G4 will definitely be overkill, but its your money :p

I have the Radion XR15 G4 on my 25G lagoon tank which is only 11" deep and my corals seem to really like it. I have it on 9 hours a day 30 minutes ramp up and then 8 hours max set on SPS AB+ pre program and then another 30 minutes ramp down.

They are kinda pricey @ $400 + tax and then an expensive mounting system but IMO a great light with a great look to it.
