Leds' too strong for soft corals?

Last month the blue string on one of my led fixtures went out and what i noticed is that for the first time in almost 2 years the corals under that led actually opened up. Before that the star polyps would barely come out and my zoas wouldnt open much.

Is it possible that after almost 2 years the corals were still not acclimated to the led lighting? Ive been battling this coral issue for this whole time but i would not have suspected that they would never acclimate to full power led?

My toadstool did great also, just the others didnt fare so well. Ive actually also had quite a bit of lps and softies slowly die on me a few months after they were introduced.

What i have left in there is a toadstool, cabbage leather, mushrooms, zoas, palys and gsp. Although these did survive the growth had been minimal. For example only like 5-6 new zoa and paly polyps in that 2 year period.

I did. I put the whites at approx. 40-50% and blues 70-75% to start. I only have dimming knobs on the led unit that don't show percentages so I'm sort of guessing.

I'd turn them down and increase over time. I buy from LFS that uses chinese LED boxes so I just place everything under 100% power. Every now and then I end up with a coral that needs to be in the shade for a few weeks to acclimate.

What corals do you keep under 100% power? I have all soft corals and a Chinese black box led.

That's a nice bubble coral. I had one too a while back but it died. I will hopefully try one again sometime.

I run Chinese fixture at 40% white and 90% blue over a 24' deep sps/lps reef and running them a bit higher I start to bleach monties at mid tank. I think your 40% and 70% was too high to start with.
