I've been playing around with led's for a while now since they are so cheap. while they don't add much if nothing at all when my halides are on --this blue leds are so great to look at by themselves.

My tank looks now like one of those fast and furious tricked out cars lol

Very cool. I would be interested in seeing a few shots of your installation. And where do you get cheap leds?

Manny, that really looks awesome. Does look a little Fast and the Furious, but whatever. Just don't stick a giant spoiler over your tank and it'll all be okay.

Do you notice any change in the colors of the corals from the added light, or it's really just to view them in heavy actinic?

I've seen them too. I wonder if the output is similar? Also the power brites, do they put out enough light to make a diff growth wise?

I bought some of those ebay lights as well, and I agree they add a great color at night. I really like how dark blue they are. But yeah, they dont do anything when other lights are on. My original hopes were that I could get the same affect as the PowerBrites, but for much less.

For the person that asked which lights on ebay, I think a search for "96 blue LED" should return the results you are looking for.

There is also another thread on here about these type of lights. The thread morphed a bit from the 1st page, so what i am talking about is clower to the end:

I have a LED light bar for sale. It is 2 20inch bars each bar has 18 blue LED's in it. The brightness of the lights can be controlled also. For $20 if anyone wants it.

The light poles at at the new Cypress Creek parking are LED, I was estimating that today, 306w x2 on each pole, pure LED's, this is the first commercial project I am estimating using LED's, I also had SESCO lighting suggest a replacement for a 400w metal halide with LED's the fixture was awesome, but Sedanos did not go for it @ 800 bucks a pop :) LED's will be the future light till plasma takes over, at an efficiency never even thought of before.
