Do you want the LED's for normal nights or moonlights?? If you want it for normal lighting go to ebay. they have strips of lights for like 20 bucks.

I have 1 strip already fro previous tanks and i have 2 moonlights that i took off my 40 cuz they didnt do anything so would those 7 lights be enough sr should i get more

I've got a 2.5 gallon pico that I'm using LED lighting on. I've got roughly 9 LEDs per square inch and it's been a long ongoing project for me, since about April of this year. I'm not doing the wiring myself, someone from a local reef club is doing it, but I am securing the LEDs in place and doing all of the legwork needed :)

There's a huge thread on Nano Reef on LEDs. If you want the link PM me...I don't think linking in posts is allowed :)

You can try some blue cold cathode lighting. They make them in large and small sizes.

How many at 12in for a 2.5 would you think are needed for star poylps?

The problem with cold cathodes is that they don't put out as much light as you'd think they would, and the lighting isn't direct, it's pretty much all over the place. I've got 2 cold cathodes in my computer and while they're bright, they aren't enough to grow anything other than maybe macro algae IMO. If you still feel like experimenting, though, check out this website: http://www.svc.com/lighting.html I've ordered all kinds of stuff from them, including CCFLs, and they're great :)

BTW, Ski, I tried sending you a PM a few times recently and your box was full...I will keep trying :)
